How much electricity power can I get per hour?

The IYILO Level 2 EV Charger requires a 240V household power supply and can deliver between 6 to 48 amps of current. At 40A, it can provide approximately 35–45 miles of range per hour. At 48A, it can provide approximately 40–50 miles of range per hour.

Can I charge my car while offline?

By default, the IYILO EV Charger is set to Plug & Charge, allowing you to start charging immediately without using the app or Bluetooth pairing. The default current is 40A for the IYILO-RA40 and 48A for the IYILO-RA48. At the same time, when the charger is offline, you can still use Plug & Charge even without an internet connection.

Does it works with my vehicle?

Our J1772 Level 2 EV Charger is designed to be compatible with almost all electric vehicles (EVs) available in North America (TESLA need an adapter)

How can I determine if my car is compatible?

To ensure your electric vehicle is compatible with our EV Charger, a quick Google search or a check in your vehicle's manual should reveal whether your EV uses a J1772 or NACS connector. For Tesla owners, our J1772 EV Charger model can be used with a Tesla adapter

Can I lock the EV Charger to prevent unauthorized use if installed outdoors?

If you do not want your EV charger to be used outdoors by others, you can disable both the plug-and-charge and scheduled charging functions, and switch to manual mode for charging.

Can I use an adapter with the IYILO Level 2 EV charger?

We do not recommend doing so. There are many types of adapters on the market, and while some may appear to be NEMA 14-50R, their internal wiring may not be compatible with EV chargers, which can result in the charger not functioning properly. In addition, low-quality adapters with unreliable build quality may cause poor contact at the plug, leading to overheating and potentially causing the plug to burn or melt.

Can the IYILO plug-in version be converted to a hardwired installation?

Yes, both the IYILO 48A Plug-in version and the IYILO 40A Plug-in version can be converted to a hardwired installation. You simply need to remove the NEMA 14-50 input cable and connect the hardwire input according to NEC code or your local electrical code. Please consult a licensed electrician for proper installation.

what is the maximum current and power that the charger can support in NEMA14-50 plug-in version?

In the NEMA 14-50 plug-in version, the IYILO charger supports a maximum current of 40A and a maximum power output of 9.6 kW.

What size circuit breaker should I install for the NEMA 14-50 Plug-in version?

For the NEMA 14-50 plug-in version, the maximum current (Dip switch setting) is preset to 40A at the factory. According to NEC (National Electrical Code) guidelines, the circuit breaker should be rated at 125% of the continuous load. Therefore, a 50A breaker should be used.

What is the factory preset current for the IYILO Level 2 charger?

The preset current for the 48A/40A Plug-in version is 40A, while the preset current for the 48A Hardwired version is 48A.

What size circuit breaker should I install for the 48A Hardwired version?

According to the NEC code, a 48A charger requires a 60A circuit breaker.

How can the current be adjusted?

The default current is 40A (RA40) and 48A (RA48). You can adjust the current in 1A increments via the IYILO App. If you want to switch between a 48A hardwired installation and a 40A plug-in setup, you can do so by adjusting the internal rotary switch, which allows you to toggle the maximum current.

Do I need install a GFCI Breaker for my charger?

All versions of the IYILO EV Charger include a built-in GFCI Protection for personnel protection. According to NEC code, NEMA 14-50 outlets must have GFCI breaker. However, our charger performs a self-test that generates a small ground fault, which may cause external GFCI breakers to trip and interrupt charging. If local regulations require GFCI protection on the outlet, we recommend using a hardwired installation instead.

Do I need a qualified electrician to install my charger?

If you purchased the NEMA 14-50 plug-in version of the EV charger and already have a compatible outlet and circuit breaker installed, simply mount the charger on the wall and plug it into the outlet—no additional electrical work is needed.

If you are installing the hardwired version of the charger, we recommend hiring a certified electrician to complete the installation.

How long are the input and output cables of the IYILO Level 2 EV Charger?

The input cable of the IYILO Level 2 EV Charger is 37 inches long, which is suitable for most installation scenarios. The output cable is a 25-foot premium-grade cable that can fulfill most charging needs in driveways and garages.

What is an NTC plug?

An NTC plug is equipped with a temperature sensor at the charger’s input plug to monitor its temperature. When the plug temperature exceeds the safe range, the system sends an alert through the app and automatically reduces the current. If the temperature reaches a dangerous level, the charger will automatically shut off the power, and charging will resume once the temperature returns to a normal level.

Can the IYILO Level 2 EV Charger be installed outdoors?

The IYILO EV charger has a NEMA Type 4 enclosure, which means it is dustproof, rainproof, and suitable for outdoor use. However, this device should not be installed in outdoor locations with high corrosion levels, such as coastal areas.
